The New Volkswagen Atlas: the Family SUV You've Waited For

Volkswagen has long made vehicles great for families, making the most out of the interior cabins and combining strong safety qualities with all kinds of amenities and features. Until now, there's never been a three-row SUV at our Rochester Hills, MI Volkswagen dealership, but that's about to change. Thanks to the new Volkswagen Atlas, you get what you want from our favorite brand, with more space and comfort for you and your loved ones. See more of the new Atlas by visiting our Volkswagen dealership serving Detroit and Troy today and we'll gladly take you for a test drive.

Joining the SUV lineup at our Auburn Hills and Sterling Heights, MI area Volkswagen dealership, the new Atlas offers you more space for both passengers and cargo. The cabin is somehow both simple and stripped down to just the basic needs, and sophisticated, thanks to high-end materials used and the smartly placed technology controls for the driver.

Technology & Safety

The tech features offered in higher trims include heated front seats, a blind-spot monitoring system, a power rear liftage and a panoramic sunroof, and plenty more. Standard Bluetooth and touchscreen controls help to keep you connected, while the higher trims offer upgrades where it really counts. As we mentioned in the trim section, the SEL Premium edition offers the unique Volkswagen Digital Cockpit system. This replaces the traditional gauge cluster with a digital video screen that displays all kinds of information on top of fuel consumption, speed and temperature readings.

For safety, the Atlas comes available with blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist and automatic emergency braking.

Trim Levels

When you're shopping for the new 2018 Atlas, you'll have five trim levels to choose from. Here's a glimpse of each, and what you can expect from the new 2018 Volkswagen Atlas trims available for drivers from Detroit, Troy and beyond.

  • S: This is the base trim, offering a generous set of features including Bluetooth, a touchscreen interface and smartphone integration, among other kinds of technology and convenience functions.
  • SE & SE w/technology: These two trims upgrade upholstery, adds some driver assistance features and provides some options you can add to the mix.
  • SEL: Adds some of the SE options as standard features and some other upgrades.
  • SEL Premium: The top of the line trim adds high-end features, including the Volkswagen Digital Cockpit display feature.

Engines & Performance

You'll have two engine options available for the three-row Atlas. The base is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder, offering 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. We really recommend the upgraded V-6 options, which improves your output to 276 horsepower with the same level of torque, helping the large Atlas get moving along here in the Auburn Hills and Sterling Heights areas. AWD is optional, and recommended to give you better traction and control during snowy and icy winters here in the Detroit area.
