It’s not every day that we get to welcome a new member to the Volkswagen family, but when we do, it’s a special occasion. Volkswagen SUVs have created quite the zeitgeist among drivers in the greater Detroit area thanks to their utility, efficiency, and practicality. With the introduction of the 2020 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport, you can add sportiness to that list of adjectives as well.

At first glance, the 2020 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport is quite the looker on the streets of Farmington Hills and Warren. Defined lines and an aggressive stance hint at the performance that lies beneath the hood. The SUV is built on Volkswagen’s award-winning Modular Transverse Matrix (MQB) architecture, which serves to create a bold new look that’s unlike anything the company has released before.

As you might surmise, the three-row, seven-seat Volkswagen Atlas plays an influential role in the design of the Atlas Cross Sport. However, the latter is a two-row, five-seat SUV, resulting in a feeling of improved handling.

Its handling is augmented by the considerable engine power that it gets from its two options. The standard engine is a 2.0-liter turbo-four that gets a power output of 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. However, if Troy drivers want to take their Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport to the next level, you’ll want to upgrade to the available 3.6-liter VR6, which gets 276 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque.

The Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport is equipped with the MIB II infotainment system, which is controlled via a 6.5-inch touchscreen and a pair of fast-charging USB ports. Smartphone compatibility is also standard courtesy of Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and MirrorLink.

The Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport is available now at Fox Volkswagen in Rochester Hills.
